Philip M. Green

	Philip M. Green, 76, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2000 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
	Mr. Green was a retired grocer, working from 1956 - 1983.  He first owned Greens IGA in DuQuoin, then Greens IGA in Murphysboro.  He was currently employed as a Real Estate Agent and Broker for McGregor Real Estate Agency.
	He was a member of Murphysboro Elks #571, a life member of Murphysboro Moose Club, a life member of American Legion Post 127 in Murphysboro, a member of VFW Post #7190 in Murphysboro, Shriners Ainad Temple, and was a 32nd Degree Mason.  He was a member of Jackson County Country Club, Past President of the Murphysboro Chamber of Commerce, past recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award for the City of Murphysboro, Past President of DuQuoin School Board District #300, had served on the Board of Trustees at John A. Logan College and was Past President of the St. Joseph Hospital Board.  He was also past part owner of the Logan House in Murphysboro and a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II.
	Mr. Green was born October 13, 1924 in Ziegler, the son of John W. and Olive N. (Lantripp ) Green.  He married Delilah F. Heisler on April 19, 1942 at Cape Girardeau, Mo. and she survives.
	Surviving are his wife, Delilah Green of Murphysboro; one daughter, Sharon Alcorn of Lakeland, Fla.; one son, Philip G. Green and wife Nancy of Murphysboro; four grandchildren, Amy Boyer and husband Troy of Auburn, Aaron Green and wife Anna of Murphysboro, Philip T. Alcorn and James Samuel Alcorn, both of Lakeland, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Trent Boyer and Taylor Boyer of Auburn; one brother, J.W. Green of Winterhaven, Fla. and one sister, Rosenell Beasley of Carterville.
	He was preceded in death by his parents.
	Graveside services were Wednesday, November 8 at 10 a.m. at IOOF Cemetery in Pinckneyville with Rev. Robin Lyons officiating.
	Friends called from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro.  Elk memorial service was at 7:30 p.m. at the church.
	Memorials may be made to the Elks Crippled Childrens Association or Shriners Hospital.
	Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro was in charge of arrangements.
